Intelligent Page Break
Hi,
I am looking for a possibility of an intelligent page break.
We use Report Builder for generating quotations, order acknowledgements, etc
with our merchandise management program. After printing several positions
with articles in the detail region there is a summarization of the prices at
the bottom.
Sometimes it happens - depending on the size of the detail region - that
this summarization is at the top of the last page. In this case I would
prefer that the page break is before the last element of the detail region
and non after the last element. How can I control this?
I know how to force a page break - but I do not have a trigger for this
event. Is there any solution?
Thanks for any comment

Take a look at the following example on preventing an orphan summary in
ReportBuilder. This should get you on the right track to keeping your
summary bands from ever displaying alone on the last page of your report.

thank you for your quick response.
I fear, I have to pass this information to the manufacturer of our software.
I have only access to files with ending *.rtm.
Is there a possibility to prevent an orphan at this level?
I know how to generate a page break - but I cannot get a trigger event.
Can you tell me a way how to calculate the number of elements in the
detail region BEFORE the runs through in the detail region have started?

Martin

There is an end-user tutorial called Learning ReportBuilder that can be
downloaded from our web site for free. See the following article for more
infomation.

Article: Learning ReportBuilder
--------------------------------
Learning ReportBuilder is a complete learning system designed to teach end
users how to build a range of reports. This system includes a 125-page PDF
file, a stand-alone application complete with a database, and a help file.
The PDF file is comprised of a series of tutorials that step end users
through the process of building reports as simple as a table listing and as
complex as crosstabs. The tutorials also introduce conceptual aspects of
report building along the way. The application is used in conjunction with
the tutorials so that the learning experience is interactive. The end user
just prints out the PDF file, runs the application, and learns
ReportBuilder. The help file is accessible from the application, so all
three tools work together to provide a seamless learning environment.
Learning ReportBuilder installs into C:\Program Files\LearnReportBuilder.
When the system has successfully installed, a complete set of instructions
appears in the form of a 'ReadMe' doc, so the end user knows just what to do
upon installation.
