Increased pagecontent size in PDFs
Hi,
as I mentioned in another post, we upgraded from Reportbuilder 11.07 to
12.04. Before that we used a 3rd party component (TExtradevices) to
create the PDFs. Now we use the built in device.
One thing I cannot explain is that the very same report with the same
data is way bigger than in the previous constellation.
As an example I've a report with 368 pages, no graphics. In the old
variant the PDF was 1.4 MB, in the new 3.4 (using ansi without font
embedding).
According to Acrobat informations, the main difference is in the size of
the page content - 2,1 MB. In return some other things like link table,
document overhead are smaller.
Any ideas? Compression level is set to max. One difference I noticed is
the version. TExtradevices generated v1.2 PDFs, ReportBuilder is
generating v1.3 PDFs.
thanks for your feedback.

What types of components are you exporting? Are you by chance exporting
large RichTexts? If you would like, you can export your PDF to file
with the CompressionLevel set to clNone and send it to me. That way
I'll be able to tell exactly what is making the PDF so large.
Send the PDF example to support@digital-metaphors.com.
