Problem with RB 6.01 and ADO

edited August 2001 in General
Ok, I posted this earlier, but I didn't explain what the problem was. I'm
having problems with ReportBuilder query builder not "seeing" an ADO
connection that is not on the same form as the Report Component. The steps
to reproduce my problem is:
1. Create a new application.
2. Create a new datamodule for the application.
3. Drop a TADOConnection on the new Datamodule
4. On the main form, drop a Report component
5. Use the Data Module's unit in the main form.
6. Open up the Report Designer from the Report component.
7. Go to the Data Tab.
8. Select the File - Data Settings Menu item.
9. Change the session type to ADOSession
10. Try changing the database name to the connection that was created on
the datamodule. This is not being listed.

This will show that the databases are not being populated with the
connections from the datamodule.

Please take a look at this, and any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
- David Scheidt

    Hi,

works with Delphi 5 SP 1 and Adopatch 1 and 2. You are using Delphi x ?

Further system information: RB is 6.01. OS is Nt 4 SP 6a or Win2000 SP2.
The ado components on the windows systems are SQL Server 2000 realted.
If some of your components are older pse patch. Than test again. If you
use Delphi 6 check the borland bug base.

    enjoy,
    Ron.

Also, I tried the same thing with and Advantage database. Same problem. I
guess it is something that has changed in Delphi 6.

The problem is reproducable only at Delphi design time in D6, and where a
database BDE/ADO connection can't be found on the datamodule. However, it
can be found when it is on another form. We're working on a fix for the
    next release.

Thanks for verifying this. Also, thanks for fixing it. Any idea when that
next release is going to be?

Can't be sure on the release since it is still in development. Within the
next couple weeks appears most likely.
