Report Writer

edited February 2007 in Server
I know that we aren't supposed to create a standalone reporting application
by itself. I have a web application and we are looking into using server
edition for the reporting. My issue is that we have no desktop application
with this system, it is all web based. I would need to make a standalone
report writer to be able to create and modify the reports. That is OK isn't
it, as long as I do have the web applicatoin in conjunction with the
reporting tools?

Thanks All,

It sounds ok, provided that the reporting part of the system is limited to
the same fixed set of database tables as the web part of the system and that
the focal point of the system is not querying/reporting.

ReportBuilder can be used to add query and reporting capabilities to an
application. The focal point of the application should be something other
than querying and reporting, otherwise you are building a query and
reporting tool - which is a violation of the license.

The overall application focal point is far reomved from reporting. The
reporting functionality is to report on data generated by the web app, and
only that info! Thank you for the clarification!!!
