Access violation

edited March 2004 in General
Rbuilder 7.03
windows 2000 sp4
delphi 7
Database: interbase 7.1 (using ibojects)
At design time everhing works ine but preview is not correct: groupings are
not showed properly

At runtim it works and it's printed fine only if delphi IDE is open (no
matter if the project is active..... simply IDE must be open!)
If Delpi is closed, report builder crashes (Access violation)
I've made several attempts: building application, removng and recreating
components, without any effect
I've even reinstalled Rbuilder

What can i do ?
How can I solve this

Many thanks in advance for your answer

    Hi Andrea,

I have never seen this issue before. I am unsure why having the Delphi IDE
opened would affect your separate application. They should be running as
two separate processes on Windows. If you create a minimal report app (ie.
a report and button on a form with the button calling Report.Print), do you
    still get the same behavior?

    I've tried and it works.
I'll try with some real examples and let you know
There may be incompatibility between different versions of the report ?
I mean: the original project contained a report created wwith a previous
version of RB. I don't know what version
Now I've bought the last one to continue working on the project (it was
developed by another software house since few week ago)
The actual goals was simply to modify a previous report
I suppose there may have been problems beteween the original verison of RB
    and the present
Could you suggest me a safe way to upgrade the reporting files and tools
    without problems ?

    Many thanks in advance

    Hi Andrea,

ReportBuilder 7.03, will automatically convert any reports in older formats
to the new format when they are loaded. To ensure the smooth operation of
your application, it would be a good idea to go ahead and load each report
at designtime, then immediately save them, or save your project, replacing
the old template/report object file. This will ensure you have the latest
format when loading the report at runtime.
