Selecting a Subreport's data based on the result of a main report calculation.

I have a report which contains a subreport.

The subreport is to display the result of a query on a table depending on
the result of a calculation in the main report.
How can I do this?

I cannot join the two pipelines as the data in the table for the subreport
does not have a suitable firld to link with.

Can you provide more details about the report. Is the subreport a summary
report or part of a master/detail relationship, ...? What is the calculation
in the main report, at what point does the calculation occur. What does the
report layout look like, at what point does the subreport need to generate?
