One Table - Multiple subreports?

edited September 2005 in Subreports
Is it possible to have the main report and several subreports all using the
same datasource? Should I just create multiple datasources for the same
table and link them? Seems to work but it's slow :-(

I'm trying to optionally control printing "blocks" of data for a given row
of information.

Thanks.

    Hi Jon,

It is definitely possible however it is much easier to split the large
dataset into smaller more specific datasets and link them in a master detail
relationship. How are you linking the datsets? Which database are you
using? Which connectivity are you using.

I'm using DOA, Oracle 8i, RB 7.02 server.

I was able to control blocks of output by using regions and making them
    visible / invisible using RAP.

This seemed to work OK for master/detail subreports in a region too. Maybe
    there is a better way?

    Hi Jon,

Sorry, I was asking all the questions about your setup to find out if there
was a reason master-detail linking was running slowly. Definitely the best
way to design a report of this type is using a master-detail relationship as
    you describe below.
